From space, to the ocean and our earth, there are many fascinating events that take place around us all of the time. A very special solar eclipse will take place on October 14, 2023, that will be visible to some in the United States. https://www.space.com/annular-solar-eclipse-2023-guide-ring-of-fire On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, an annular solar eclipse will come to North America. Roughly 11 years after the same type of solar eclipse crossed the U.S. Southwest on May 20, 2012, this one will be visible from a similar region, crossing eight U.S. states from Oregon to Texas, according to NASA. During an annular solar eclipse, the moon appears slightly smaller than the sun, so it can't block the entire disk. The result is a beautiful "ring of fire." Texas in particular will have two solar eclipses this year. https://www.texasstandard.org/stories/solar-eclipse-2023-2024-texas-visible/ Texas will experience a celestial double feature soon, with not one but two solar eclipses visible within the next six months. First up is the “ring of fire” annular solar eclipse on Oct. 14, followed by a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Texas State Parks in line to view the eclipses. https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/texas-news/texas-state-parks-recommend-reservations-for-the-october-annular-eclipse/3342960/

The eclipse on April 8, 2024, happened and it was totally AWESOME!  It was cloudy all morning up until the 15 minutes before totality.  We were able to capture some pictures.  I have more to look over,  Alexis really got some nice pictures.

Here are two pictures I took yesterday.

Awesome pictures of the eclipse, Alexis!!  I love that you picked up the solar flares too.  You also captured the moon's topography.  Great photography.  Most people didn't capture or notice the solar flares.  Great moment in time to remember for a lifetime!  ❤️

Glad you enjoyed them.  We have so many more pics, but those were the best.  We had the challenge of a lot of cloud cover, so it was hit or miss.
