Texas Weather- Extreme Weather Forecasts/Updates

Texans and other states in the central prairie lands of the US can expect an Arctic Vortex of cold troublesome air coming through with a new front as early as today.

For Texas, not sure what exactly is in store for us, because the forecast keeps changing.  Tonight, some rain as the front blows in and brings colder air.  By Sunday, ice and a snow mix is expected with one to three inches with severely cold temperatures of 12F Sunday down to 8F Monday.  I'm not so much worried about the accumulation unless there's a lot of ice and the trees hitting power lines, but more concerned that our power stays on.  The past three winters we've lost power from hours to days in zero degree temps between winter's of 2021, 2022 and 2023.  Here we are again, facing extremely cold temps and hoping the power grid of Texas holds up.

We are prepared as much as possible with many AVR's rigged up to computers, electric sofa and loveseat, as well as electric blankets.  We have wood to burn and a propane tank too.  Hardly enough though as this is full survival mode to get through hours to days without power.  We also have to pay close attention to our dogs and make sure they stay warm too.

This is the storm system that will affect Texas with some questionable precipitation of ice and snow or a mixture.

    Stay warm!!

We are certainly cold, but the forecast has luckily changed and the winter mix of precipitation has been removed from the forecast early Monday morning.  We were 10F this morning and won't rise much about 15F today.  We still have to get passed this cold spell through Tuesday.  Not dealing with ice is a big deal, if we just remain cold, then maybe we keep the power on.  Finger's crossed!

Our cold front system coming in tonight has so far spawned a lot of funnels, hail and high winds.  We've been under a tornado warning, which just expired.  This front is a very volatile mix of bad, that will be wrecking havoc on Texas and the southern states as it moves eastward.

Stay safe everyone and follow your watches and warnings.

The United States prairies (mid America) and southern states had numerous weather events yesterday and the same stormy system and cold front that came through, while colliding with the warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, with a low pressure system caused a lot of damage in some states.  Very sad to see the property damage in Ohio, and Illinois, as well as the loss of life. These storms are very dangerous.  Just learned that Frisco, Texas actually had an EF0 confirmed.

This storm system is now running it's course all the way to the southern east coast.  Stay safe!

More storms coming in tonight, but not as threatening as last weeks storm.  Tonight it's possible to have small hail, gusty winds and heavy downpours.  Hello spring!

A major multi-day weather outbreak is set up now starting this afternoon in the plains which will reach from Texas through Oklahoma going eastward and south eastward.  All modes of weather is expected (high wind gusts, tornadoes, large hail, heavy downpours) and the worst of it is predicted in Oklahoma today, however, Texas is also under threat for severe weather as this outbreak includes super cell formations and a strong squall line this evening.  This is a good time to prepare and get patio furniture covered or brought in to a safe place, as well as other items that may need to be secured down.  Take care of your pets safety too.

Here's an explanation on what and when to expect this weather and how this weather pattern formed it's stormy strength.

Okay, Realmers, we have another multi-day weather event coming in Monday.  Here's a good explanation of what to expect, especially if you are planning to view the eclipse tomorrow and are traveling.

I heard on the radio today that this is the biggest weather event forecast of the year.  The storm system coming through is a three day weather event, Monday and Tuesday, will be the most threatening weather event days which include large hail, lots of high wind gusts, torrential rain and the threat of tornadoes. I also heard we have to about 6pm to 7pm to make sure anything that can fly around is bolted down or brought in under a shelter.  So with that folks, stay weather aware and stay safe.

If anyone reads my Texas weather blog, and would be interested in talking weather, come on in....this is a friendly place to hang up your hat and chat.

We had major storms come through last night until about 4:30am.  Not much sleep, very electrical and lots of crashing lightening and thunder.  We have more storms coming in today and tomorrow.  It got a little cooler so that's good.

It looks like this storm system is going to carry on through the south and become more severe.  Stay safe everyone!
